2013 May - June

On the 8th May 2013 Brooklyn was having a routine check up at the children's heart clinic in the freeman hospital and it was found his heart was really poorly. Brooklyn was admitted on to ward 23 in the hospital. On 16th May Dr Griselli and his team preformed a 9 hour open heart operation on Brooklyn. Brooklyn has a blockage and narrowing in his pulmonary veins which is the big vein that carries the oxygen rich blood into the heart. The surgeons took out the blockage and narrowing in the veins and 're plumbed' them back to his heart. They also fitted him a pulmonary artery band to restrict the blood flow. The operation was a success and Brooklyn then spent 10 days on PICU and a further week recovering back on the ward. This was Brooklyn's only operation he had.
